The Argentina captain has confirmed that Sunday’s World Cup final will be his last ever match at the tournament.

Argentina fans are desperate to see what will be Lionel Messi’s last ever World Cup appearance
Tickets for the final are reportedly on the market for as much as four times their face value
By lifting the World Cup trophy, it would even further cement his legacy and add to his already illustrious CV.
Messi’s Argentina will face a French side brimmed with talent, no more so than in his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe.
The showdown takes place on Sunday at the Lusail Stadium which has a capacity of 88,966 – but far more than that will be hoping to find a way to be there.
Tickets are officially sold out at the moment, but Clarin have reported that FIFA could put 10,000 tickets up for grabs from returned seats.
The original price of a ticket for the final ranges from around £496 to £1320 but ticket touts are set to make a killing.
Clarin reports that tickets at triple and even quadruple the price are flooding the illegal market.
It’s not just Argentina fans who will pay the hefty prices either – with around 6,000 France fans expected at the Lusail Stadium, who will have paid around £1402 for a round-trip without a ticket, Get French Football News reports.
Argentina fans on their way to Qatar without a ticket have reportedly set up a WhatsApp group called ‘Please Chiqui’ – in reference to the Argentina FA president Claudio ‘Chiqui’ Tapia.

Desperate Argentines began a demonstration in front of where the Argentina FA are staying on Thursday – pleading with them for tickets.
‘Oh, come on Chiqui Tapia, give us the tickets,’ was the chant which was repeated over and over again by a protest group of around 300 people.
The AFA president has reportedly encouraged fans to make the trip to Qatar with rumours circulating that FIFA will be putting extra tickets on sale – made up from returns or unsold hospitality for example.
It would follow suit of when UEFA made more seats available for England’s Euros 2020 final with Italy due to unsold VIP tickets.
