Welsh WAGs including Charlotte Russell show their support in a must-win game

Welsh WAGs aren’t giving up hope as they head to Doha to support their boyfriends and partners as the nation takes on England in the World Cup 2022 this evening.

The match will be the first time the two home nations have ever met in a world cup tournament – and the stakes couldn’t be higher for Wales, who need to beat England 4-0 to have a chance of making it out of the group.

Nonetheless, the Welsh wives, girlfriends and fiancées flocked to Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Doha to support their beaus – and they showed the rivalry between the nations is restricted to the game as they hugged England WAGs in the stands ahead of kick-off. 

David Brooks’ girlfriend Flora and Charlotte Russell, Kieffer Moore’s girlfriend, were seen arriving at the stadium this evening proudly wearing their Welsh football shirts.

As Charlotte walked into the stadium, she showed her patriotism as she posed for photos holding up the Welsh flag behind her and beaming.

In the stands, Flora was pictured chatting to others before she spotted Georgina Irwin, who is in a relationship with England’s Aaron Ramsdale.

The pair tightly hugged when they saw each other, showing the WAGs’ friendships certainly aren’t bound by their team support.

Also in the stands was Ria Hughes, who was also proudly wearing her Wales shirt as she cradled the son she shares with Daniel James.

As the players prepared for kick off, England seem almost certain to progress through their group after drawing 0-0 with the USA and beating Iran 6-2. 

However, after a 1-1 draw with the USA and a 2-0 defeat to Iran, Wales’s path to the knockout stages is much narrower – although it is still mathematically possible.

Despite the slim chance of making it through to the next round, Wales’s players have strong support from their partners, many of whom have been in Qatar throughout the tournament so far.

And Aaron Ramsey’s wife Colleen has even made the trip to Doha with the couple’s two children so they could support him this evening.

Posting photos on her Instagram story of herself and the children at the airport and on the plane, she wrote: ‘Let’s go!’
