The USA has become the highest-ranked CONCACAF team in the FIFA world rankings following its run to the World Cup knockout stage.
Gregg Berhalter’s team was beaten 3-1 by Holland in the last-16 in Qatar after advancing as Group B runners-up behind England.
The soccer governing body FIFA has revealed its new rankings, set to be officially released on Thursday, and the USMNT has moved up three places.

Its rise up the rankings has seen the USA land the spot of top ranked CONCACAF team, overtaking Mexico.
The USA now sits in 13th in the rankings while rival Mexico is now down in 15th after it was knocked out in the group stage.
The United States’ progress in Qatar gave American fans renewed hope in the national team ahead of the North America World Cup in four years’ time.
Berhalter put faith in young players at the tournament with the roster one of the youngest at the showpiece event.
Whether the head coach will be in charge when 48 nations descend on Canada, Mexico and the United States remains to be seen.
Berhalter’s contract is up now that the tournament has concluded after refusing to be drawn on his future following the last-16 exit.
Meanwhile, the US soccer federation released an update earlier this month.
‘As we always do after a major tournament, we are taking time to reflect,’ the statement from Sporting Director Earnie Stewart read, via Sam Stejskal.
‘We will conduct a full review with everyone involved as we determine our next steps.
‘We look forward to building off the performance in Qatar and preparing for the journey towards 2026.’
Brazil will remain No. 1 in the rankings despite Argentina sealing glory on Sunday.
