Harry Kane has made a scoring return to Premier League action after suffering World Cup heartbreak in Qatar earlier in December, giving Tottenham a crucial lifeline in their London derby against Brentford.
The England captain took responsibility after missing a decisive penalty that ultimately saw the Three Lions lose to France and crash out of the World Cup at the quarter-final stage.
But in returning to action just days after resuming training with Tottenham, Kane proved his mind is in the right place as he got on the scoresheet against Brentford, in turn becoming the all-time top Premier League goalscorer on Boxing Day.

The exquisite finish came after Brentford fans took aim at Kane in the first half, singing, ‘You let your country down’ at the England captain.
Kane guided a Clement Lenglet cross into the far corner and past a hapless David Raya in the Brentford net.
The header means Kane has now scored 10 Boxing Day goals, pulling him away from Robbie Fowler on nine, having drawn level with the Liverpool legend in a 3-0 home win over Crystal Palace this time last year.
Fellow prolific Boxing Day marksmen include Robbie Keane and Alan Shearer, who both scored eight goals in their time, while Arsenal legend Thierry Henry scored seven.

Kane, who was in fine form before heading to Qatar, moves to 13 league goals for the season, five shy of Manchester City star Erling Haaland, who returns to Premier League action away at Leeds on Wednesday.
The goal will come as a huge relief for the 29-year-old, whose penalty miss largely overshadowed his achievement of becoming England’s joint top scorer, alongside Wayne Rooney.
‘It is a really tough night to take,’ Kane said of England’s defeat to France. ‘I am gutted, the team are gutted. We had full belief that we could achieve something special at this World Cup but it came down to small details.
‘It is hard to take for sure but I can be proud of the group, proud of each other for what we’ve done. This will hurt for a while but we will dust ourselves down to get ready in the future.’
The Tottenham star has picked up where he left off at club level, however, which will be a huge boost for manager Antonio Conte ahead of a crucial period.
