Tottenham are expected to be without in-form Richarlison for up to six weeks, after Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury in the World Cup… as scans rule striker out of Arsenal clash in January
Tottenham are expected to be without Richarlison for up to six weeks following the hamstring injury he sustained in the World Cup.
The former Watford and Everton striker had a tournament to remember – despite Brazil’s early elimination – after scoring two iconic goals in his country’s campaign.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte would’ve hoped the forward could’ve carried his international form back to north London, but those hopes have been put on ice after news the talisman could be out for six weeks.
Tottenham will be without in-form striker Richarlison for another six weeks due to injury
Antonio Conte’s Spurs will be without Richarlison for two crucial games in the New Year
It was initially hoped the Brazil forward would be out for no more than a month as he recovers from the injury he picked up in the quarter-final loss to Croatia.
But a scan revealed Spurs’ £60million summer signing could be out for six weeks. That would rule him out of Tottenham’s north London derby with Premier League leaders Arsenal on January 15 and the trip to Manchester City four days later.
It would likely mean that his next appearance for Spurs will come in their return trip to the Etihad at the start of February.
He was not due to report back to training until next Monday, along with England captain Harry Kane and Eric Dier who was also part of the Three Lions squad.

It was a disappointing end to a World Cup which had been going well for Richarlison, who grabbed a brace in a 2-0 group-stage win over Serbia and scored one of the goals of the tournament in the 4-1 romp over South Korea.
He played 84 minutes of their last eight tie with Croatia despite suffering the injury in the warm-up.
Despite Brazil’s quarter-final elimination, Richarlison marked his World Cup adventure with Brazil by getting a new back tattoo – featuring himself, alongside two national legends.
The artwork on his back features the faces of featuring himself, Neymar and Ronaldo Nazario – who Richarlison met mid-way through the World Cup.

Spurs return to action on Boxing Day at Brentford and have seven guaranteed games before the end of January including the North London derby against Arsenal.
They could have an eighth on the final weekend of the month if they progress to the FA Cup fourth round with a win over Portsmouth.
And a likely lay-off for Richarlison will limit Spurs’ chances of easing Kane and Heung-Min Son back into action.
Son is already back in training for Spurs while Kane and Eric Dier are not expected to return to Hotspur Way until next week.
There’ll be no rest for striker Harry Kane who now has no deputy due to Richarlison’s injury
