Socceroos star Harry Souttar’s VERY bizarre Subway sandwich choice leaves teammate Martin Boyle disgusted: ‘That’s why you weigh 120kg’
Towering Socceroos defender Harry Souttar is a huge man with a huge appetite – and his bizarre choice of Subway sandwich has disgusted teammate Martin Boyle in a video that’s gone viral.
The 198cm 24-year-old is the tallest outfield player to have ever represented the Socceroos and he’s coming off the game of his life against Tunisia.

Socceroo Martin Boyle (pictured) was astonished by Souttar’s choice of Subway meal – which consisted of ‘chicken breast, ham, a bit of onion, cheese and onion crisps sprinkled over the top, ketchup, three cookies and a Pepsi Max’
The Stoke City ace put in a man-of-the-match effort in Australia’s dramatic victory, winning 100% of his attempted tackles and ground duels in one of the most complete defensive performances ever seen by an Aussie at the World Cup.
Souttar’s late game-saving slide tackle went viral after the game on Saturday – and so too now has his choice of sandwich.
In a video clip released by the Socceroos this week, Souttar was questioned about his go-to order when visiting Subway by injured teammate Martin Boyle.
‘Chicken breast, ham, a bit of onion, cheese and onion crisps sprinkled over the top, ketchup, three cookies and a Pepsi Max,’ says Souttar.

Boyle and striker Jason Cummings are visibly astonished by Souttar’s order in the clip.
‘That’s why you’re 120kg, mate,’ jokes Boyle.
The big man says he’s copped a lot of flak from people who have seen the video, but he argues he’s got a large body to fuel.
‘The amount of stick I’ve got for that…,’ said Souttar.
‘Look at the size of me, I need it! The stick I’ve gotten from that has been pretty over the top to be honest, but it’s my choice.
Souttar (pictured performing his late game-saving slide tackle) has downplayed speculation about a possible move to the Premier League after his outstanding performances in a Socceroos jersey
‘(The team chef) is probably not happy – I’ve not had a conversation with him yet. I don’t think any of the sports science team would be pleased with the three cookies, either.’
Souttar has downplayed speculation about a possible move to the Premier League after his outstanding performances in a Socceroos jersey.
‘My focus has got to be on the here and now,’ he said.
‘If you ask every player, they want to play at the highest level they can but my focus is purely on Denmark and I’ll let other people speak about all that for me, I don’t need to do that.’
Souttar says he’s only concentrating on the Socceroos next World Cup game against Denmark
‘I just need to concentrate on my performances on the pitch. That’s all I can say about that.’
