Robert Lewandowski is reduced to TEARS after he finally ends his World Cup scoring drought in his fifth game – days after missing a penalty against Mexico – as he doubles Poland’s lead against Saudi Arabia
Poland’s talismanic striker had gone five World Cup games without a goal, with his shocking miss from the penalty spot in midweek against Mexico only adding to the pressure on his shoulders.
But deep into the second half against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Lewandowski was presented with a golden chance to score, and all the weight on his shoulders was lifted as he had the simple job of slotting the ball into the net to make it 2-0 on the day.

It all appeared to be too much for the Barcelona and former Bayern Munich striker, with the veteran seen sobbing after he raced toward the corner with his arms outstretched, then stayed slumped on the field as team-mates rushed to congratulate him. He got up, rubbed his face, and blew a kiss to the crowd.
It was his first World Cup goal – and his 77th in total for Poland.
The 34-year-old also set up the opener in the 40th minute when he kept the ball in play after goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais’ initial block, then laid it back for Piotr Zielinski to knock in.
Al-Owais denied Lewandowski from scoring a second goal late in the match.
