Real Valladolid vs Osasuna Preview
Real Valladolid and Osasuna clash on Sunday in LaLiga. The home fans at the Jose Zorrilla have a new hero with Cyle Larin making a remarkable start to his career in Spain. However it’s never easy against Osasuna who are enjoying another strong season.
Real Valladolid appear to be proof of just how important the January transfer window can be if you can get the right business done. They were in freefall a couple of weeks back after five straight defeats to nil but Pacheta has managed to turn it around with back-to-back wins over Valencia and impressively away at high-flying Real Sociedad last time out.
The latter was one of the shock results of the season so far and both victories came courtesy of goals from January signing Larin. The Canadian is yet to start a game and has only clocked up 46 minutes in total but his 2 goals have been worth 4 points to Real Valladolid which could easily prove the difference between relegation and survival come June. Larin will be hoping he has done enough to make the starting XI for the first time here.
As for Osasuna, they continue to plod steadily along, accumulating points that ensure they remain very much in contention for a European place. It’s just 1 defeat in 5 league games but it’s also only 1 win in 7 so this isn’t their most convincing period in the season, although their strong run to the Semi-Finals of the Copa del Rey has perhaps taken its toll a bit in LaLiga in recent weeks.
It has at times felt like they carry a bit more of an attacking threat this season than in recent years with youngsters like Abde Ez and Aimar Oroz having an impact. Both are unavailable here though and the goals have dried up a bit of late with Osasuna only managing to score 3 times in 6 league outings since the World Cup.

Possible XI: Aitor – Cruz, Unai Garcia, David Garcia, Moreno – Moi Gomez, Torro, Moncayola – Ruben Garcia, Budimir, Chimy (4-3-3)

Score Prediction: Real Valladolid 1-0 Osasuna
This is likely to be a tight game with few chances given neither side have exactly been prolific in front of goal since the restart. Indeed it’s a combined total of 5 goals scored in 12 matches since the World Cup for these two teams but Real Valladolid do look to have turned a corner and with a relatively strong home record this season, they may just be the side more likely to edge this.
