Real Madrid vs Valencia Preview
Real Madrid and Valencia meet on Thursday for the second time in three weeks. Real Madrid need to return to winning ways as soon as possible after their slip up against Real Sociedad. While Valencia will look to get something out of this game as they’re in danger of dropping down to the dreaded relegation zone.
Real Sociedad held Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw on Sunday at the Bernabeu. All things considered, La Real put in a great performance. They had many injuries that could have negatively impacted their performance but they stood up to be counted. However, it’s safe to say that Real Madrid should’ve won that match based on the quality and quantity of chances they had.
Regardless of the result, the performance was one that signals great improvement from Carlo Ancelotti’s men. They now look more resolute defensively and have greater fluidity in their attack. This match against Valencia is a must win as dropping more points here will have a severe impact on the title race.
A 90th minute Cyle Larin dagger gave Real Valladolid all three points against Valencia at the weekend. Valencia had chances of their own, particularly in the first half, but failed to put them away. That loss saw them drop to 14th position and they remain just one point above the relegation zone. Their recent downturn in form contributed to the departure of coach Gennaro Gattuso on Monday with Voro set to take temporary charge again.
Los Che have evidently been struggling this season, but they have enough quality in the squad to pull themselves out of the relegation scrap. They have weapons like Cavani, Kluivert and Yunus Musah who will fight to pull the club out of this mess. In this match, they could have some success aerially as that’s one of their biggest strengths. In fact, their goal against Real Madrid in the Supercopa came from a header.
