Raphael Varane’s injury in the World Cup final ‘was only fatigue’ and the defender ‘could play for Man United again before 2022 is out’ despite limping off in extra time for France
Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is expected to return to club action soon after an report emerged his injury suffered in the World Cup final isn’t serious.
The France man limped off the field in extra time after pulling up when trying to clear a ball, striking fear into United fans having suffered with injury issues this season.
But, according to Manchester Evening News, the injury was only caused by fatigue, and he will be fine to return to playing after he gets back from a break following the tournament.

It has been reported that the issue was only fatigue, and any injury is not though to be serious
Varane had missed the last three Premier League games for his club before the World Cup and had feared he would miss the tournament in Qatar with an ankle issue.
But he was fine to play for France, managing an impressive 621 minutes for Didier Deschamps’ side as they made it to their second final in as many tournaments.
It is believed that Varane was one of the players impacted by a virus that plagued the French side in the build-up to Sunday’s final, but he recovered in time to start his sixth game out of seven at the Lusail Stadium.

He ended up on the losing side, but is unlikely to play for United on December 27
He was substituted for Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate in the 23rd minute of extra time and was offered help back to the dugout by members of France’s medical team.
He firstly put his arm round a medic, but then moved away before showing signs of frustration as he walked off the pitch.
It seems that was in frustration as the scoreline in the game however, with his side 3-2 down having come back from a deficit of 2-0 to take the game past 90 minutes.
United face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on December 27 in their first game back after the tournament, a game Varane was expected to miss anyway given France’s run to the final.
He could be back to take on Wolves on December 30, with fellow central defender Lisandro Martinez also expected back late having won the World Cup with Argentina.
Varane had struggled with injury issues for United earlier this season but recovered in time for the World Cup
