Osasuna vs Sevilla Preview
El Sadar plays host to a Copa del Rey Quarter Final this week with a 10:00 p.m. kick-off set to ensure this is played out in freezing conditions in Pamplona. The atmosphere should be red hot though as Osasuna target a place in the last four of the Copa for the first time since 2004/05.
This is already their best cup run in more than a decade with Jagoba Arrasate looking to permanently write his name in Osasuna folklore by potentially going all the way. As good a job as Arrasate has done at El Sadar, mid-table finishes don’t always stand the test of time and forge lasting memories but the cup offers the Osasuna boss and his players an opportunity to truly do something special.
They will be favourites for this tie and they are worthy of that status. They’ve already beaten Sevilla at home in the league this season and are 8 places and 10 points better off than their opponents in the league standings. They’ve already come through a tougher tie than this in the Copa del Rey too after defeating holders Real Betis on penalties at the Benito Villamarin last week following an entertaining 2-2 draw.
As for Sevilla, the cup has provided something of a welcome distraction to their league woes. They’ve not had to play top flight opposition yet to reach this stage but did claim a good win in this part of the world last week in the last 16, defeating Segunda Division high-flyers Alaves 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ivan Rakitic.
The Croatian was also the only player to net in their league game at the weekend as Sevilla beat Cadiz 1-0 at the Sanchez-Pizjuan in a crucial relegation six-pointer. That has perhaps bought Jorge Sampaoli a bit more time but Sevilla are still only a point outside the relegation zone having made little to no improvement under his leadership so far.

Score Prediction: Osasuna 2-1 Sevilla
Sevilla just haven’t looked convincing this season at any point and it’s hard to fancy them here. El Sadar should be rocking for this game and Osasuna look capable of repeating the job they did on Sevilla earlier in the campaign to book their place in the Semi-Finals.
