Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea are all interested in Jordan Pickford, who is yet to sign the new five-year contract agreed before the World Cup.
Pickford is said to be happy to stay at Everton and manager Frank Lampard wants to tie him down to the deal as soon as possible.
Lampard said last week: “Jordan feels very happy being at this club, I don’t want to speak for him but that’s the impression I get from him.
“I feel we can match his ambitions. We’re a huge club with a huge history and big ambition and he’s a big part of that. If Jordan feels like that, we can match each other’s ambitions and in terms of getting him to stay longer, I don’t see that as a problem.”
But the Daily Mail claims the club’s owners are yet to give the green light, with the contract still under their review.
The report states: ‘Sources have expressed surprise that the contract remains with the club’s owners, when a swift resolution had been expected before Pickford left for Qatar.’
The delay has alerted Man Utd, Spurs and Chelsea, who are all thought to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
Antonio Conte wants a long-term successor to Hugo Lloris, Edouard Mendy’s recent struggles have resulted in Graham Potter turning to error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea, while Erik ten Hag is scouring the market for David de Gea’s replacement.
Lampard is under pressure at Goodison Park after Wolves’ last-minute winner on Boxing Day left his side just one point above the relegation zone.
And the former Chelsea boss has pleaded with the Toffees board to back him in the January transfer window.
“We want to help the squad in the January window,” he said.
“We want to have more options in the forward areas, if the right players become available in those areas then we have to try and improve.
“Particularly when we had Dominic injured in the big part of the season, I think it’s been an area where we know we want more.
“We’ll do our best but what we don’t want to do is bring in players that are not going to help improve us, that are going to sit in the squad and not help improve us.”
Your article gave me a lot of inspiration, I hope you can explain your point of view in more detail, because I have some doubts, thank you.
