Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag “needs to resign” as manager if he manages to win a Quadruple this season, according to former defender Paul Parker.
The Red Devils are having a good first season under Ten Hag after a miserable 2021-22 campaign which saw them finish sixth in the Premier League.
In recent weeks, Man Utd have caught up Man City and Arsenal and are now firmly in the race to win the title.
Third-placed United are currently three points adrift of defending champions City and a further two points behind current Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Not only do they have a chance of winning the Premier League, they are in the final of the Carabao Cup at the weekend and are still participating in both the FA Cup and Europa League.
And although former Man Utd defender Parker doesn’t think it will happen, he is frustrated that nobody is talking about the “possibility” that the Red Devils win an unprecedented Quadruple.
Parker told indiabetting: “It would be a massive achievement if Man United manage to win a quadruple this season but it still wouldn’t be the ultimate as it isn’t the Champions League but only the Europa League.
“But it would be really incredible, and honestly if it is going to happen, Erik ten Hag needs to resign after that and not carry on. Because he will never be able to surpass that.
“But I have not heard a single Man United fan speak about this as a possibility but we can’t ignore that it in theory is a possibility.
“But one thing is theory and another thing is being realistic and I don’t think that it is possible. But I think it’s silly that it hasn’t been mentioned by a single person or any media.”
Leicester City midfielder James Maddison was recently linked with a move to Man Utd in the summer but Parker doesn’t want to see the England international join.
Parker told bettors earlier this week: “I wouldn’t like to see James Maddison at Man United unless he makes some changes. He’s not the player that United should be looking at.”
“If you look at him and Eriksen maybe there are similarities there but he’s not one I see coming into that midfield, especially because we already have Eriksen who I consider as a better player.
“There would be a lot that would have to change with him. I’m looking for him to be Leicester’s most outstanding player every game and I’m not seeing that.
“And I’m not seeing someone that’s working really hard and playing out of his skin. Someone that’s getting himself noticed because of his playing abilities.”
