Marcus Rashford has hailed Aaron Wan-Bissaka for his performance in Manchester United‘s League Cup win against Burnley.
The Red Devils beat the Championship side 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night to move into the quarter-finals of the competition, with the right-back providing a fine assist for Christian Eriksen to open the scoring.
And Rashford, who netted the second goal, told MUTV that his team-mate is a ‘massively important player’ – despite him only playing four minutes of Premier League football so far this season.

He said: ‘Yeah, massively important player. We all know about his defensive qualities and, for me, he just needs confidence to be pushed to go forward because when he goes forward he can create goalscoring opportunities for us and today he had no right to get that ball but he got there anyway.
‘It was a good ball across and it looks like a simple goal in the end but it’s not, it’s the movement and the timing from all three players. Christian arriving late into the box and getting a tap-in. It was a great goal and Azza played a massive part.’
After the game, United manager Erik ten Hag insisted the £50million signing from Crystal Palace does have a future at the club, amid widespread transfer interest in the 25-year-old, reportedly from the likes of Wolves, West Ham and the Eagles.

He stated: ‘Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it’s clear he has a future. He had some good years here at Man United, but from the start this season he had a lot of illnesses and injuries, so running behind.
‘From the restart on he is fit and he could train with the team and you see him progressing, his fitness levels getting better, his performance levels getting better and I’m really happy today with his performance.
‘He gave an assist – especially the way he gave the assist – about his movement in the right moment and timing, and of course a great pass by Bruno [Fernandes], but the assist is great. I’m happy with his performance. He did good.’
