LaLiga matchday 27 preview – Predicted lineups
Friday 1st March 2024
21:00 – Celta Vigo vs Almeria
Celta Vigo | Almeria | |
Win Probability | 56% | 19% |
Celta surrendered a two goal lead to draw their six pointer at Cadiz last time out and they face another of the bottom three on Friday. Iago Aspas is banned so Tasos Douvikas may get a rare start in the league for the Galicians who have six players injured.
Almeria may be winless but they’re unbeaten in three after drawing against Atleti last time out. Gaizka Garitano could name the same eleven again in Vigo.
Possible Lineups
Celta Vigo: Guaita – Manu Sanchez, Nuñez, Starfelt, Manquillo – De La Torre, Beltran, Jailson, Mingueza – Larsen, Douvikas (4-4-2)
Almeria: Maximiano – Langa, Radovanovic, Edgar, Pubill – Baba, Robertone – Embarba, Viera, Romero – Lozano (4-2-3-1)
Saturday 2nd March 2024
14:00 – Sevilla vs Real Sociedad
Sevilla | Real Sociedad | |
Win Probability | 38% | 31% |
Sevilla have a couple of big absentees here with Lucas Ocampos and Djibril Sow suspended which will force Quique Sanchez Flores into at least two changes from the team that lost 1-0 at Real Madrid. He’s likely to go 3-5-2 once more though with Isaac Romero and Youssef En-Nesyri up top.
Real Sociedad crashed out of the Copa del Rey on penalties against Mallorca earlier in the week and they have PSG visiting on Tuesday in the Champions League so we’re likely to see more rotation from Imanol. Ander Barrenetxea’s fitness will be monitored in the days ahead of the game.
Possible Lineups
Sevilla: Nyland – Salas, Ramos, Bade – Pedrosa, Soumare, Mejbri, Oliver, Navas – Romero, En-Nesyri (3-5-2)
Real Sociedad: Remiro – Tierney, Pacheco, Zubeldia, Arambaru – Turrientes, Zubimendi, Brais Mendez – Becker, Silva, Kubo (4-3-3)
16:15 – Rayo Vallecano vs Cadiz
Rayo Vallecano | Cadiz | |
Win Probability | 55% | 17% |
Rayo were well beaten at Girona last time out, but they’ll be content enough with one point from two games so far under new boss Iñigo Perez. Pep Chavarria is suspended this weekend while Isi Palazon is still a doubt so Jorge de Frutos may get another go on the right flank.
Cadiz put in one of their better performances of the season last time out against Celta, scoring their first goals since Mauricio Pellegrino took over in a 2-2 draw. Darwin Machis was particularly impressive off the bench and could be rewarded with a start here while centre back Fali remains an injury doubt.
Possible Lineups
Rayo Vallecano: Dimitrievski – Espino, Lejeune, Aridane, Balliu – Crespo, Valentin – Alvaro Garcia, Unai Lopez, De Frutos – De Tomas (4-2-3-1)
Cadiz: Gil – Javi Hernandez, Chust, Mere, Iza – Machis, Escalante, Alcaraz, Navarro – Juanmi, Maxi Gomez (4-4-2)
18:30 – Getafe vs Las Palmas
Getafe | Las Palmas | |
Win Probability | 46% | 24% |
Getafe are missing defenders Djene and Omar Alderete to suspension this weekend. They were outclassed by Barca 4-0 last time out, but should have much more of the game against Las Palmas this time out with a return to 4-4-2 likely.
Las Palmas are missing Alex Suarez to suspension with Julian Araujo and Marvin Park options to replace him at right back. Sandro and Munir are also pushing for recalls having been left on the bench against Osasuna.
Possible Lineups
Getafe: Soria – Rico, Gaston, Duarte, Iglesias – Martin, Milla, Maksimovic, Greenwood – Mata, Mayoral (4-4-2)
Las Palmas: Valles – Cardona, Marmol, Coco, Araujo – Kirian, Perrone, Muñoz – Moleiro, Sandro, Munir (4-3-3)
21:00 – Valencia vs Real Madrid
Valencia | Real Madrid | |
Win Probability | 17% | 59% |
There are no significant selection issues for Valencia, meaning Ruben Baraja is able to pick his strongest eleven here with the main doubts over who starts in the wide midfield roles.
Real Madrid have RB Leipzig at home in the Champions League on Wednesday so Carlo Ancelotti may not take any risks with Jude Bellingham who is nearing fitness. Joselu is also a doubt but Los Blancos have at least recovered Antonio Rudiger now to ease their defensive selection issues.
Possible Lineups
Valencia: Mamardashvili – Gaya, Diakhaby, Mosquera, Foulquier – Guerra, Pepelu, Guillamon, Diego Lopez – Duro, Yaremchuk (4-4-2)
Real Madrid: Lunin – Mendy, Nacho, Rudiger, Carvajal – Kroos, Tchouameni, Valverde – Brahim – Vinicius, Rodrygo (4-3-1-2)
Sunday 3rd March 2024
14:00 – Villarreal vs Granada
Villarreal | Granada | |
Win Probability | 58% | 20% |
Villarreal won at Real Sociedad last time out, but they’ve found life tougher against more defensive sides like Granada in recent weeks which suggests this is no gimme for the improving Yellow Submarine. They’re missing Jorge Cuenca to suspension this weekend while Alexander Sorloth may well return up top with Goncalo Guedes less useful in these types of fixtures.
Granada have shown slight improvements with three straight draws. The suspended Gerard Gumbau is likely to be their only notable absentee here.
Possible Lineups
Villarreal: Jorgensen – Moreno, Mosquera, Bailly, Femenia – Baena, Coquelin, Comesaña, Akhomach – Sorloth, Gerard Moreno (4-4-2)
Granada: Batalla – Neva, Miquel, Rubio, Ricard – Villar, Ruiz, Hongla – Pellistri, Boye, Uzuni (4-3-3)
16:15 – Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis
Atletico Madrid | Real Betis
Win Probability | 62% | 16% |
Atletico Madrid were well beaten 3-0 by Athletic in the 2nd Leg of their Copa del Rey Semi-Final on Thursday night with some rotation expected from that team. Antoine Griezmann was not involved in Bilbao which suggests this game is likely to come too soon for him with Memphis Depay and Alvaro Morata perhaps the most likely front two for the hosts.
Betis have a host of injuries but still managed to beat Athletic in the league last weekend. The situation hasn’t improved a great deal heading into this weekend with Nabil Fekir the latest to pick up a knock which could see him miss this one, potentially handing Rodri a rare start. Sergi Altimira is also injured now and will definitely be out of this game.
Possible Lineups
Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Reinildo, Witsel, Savic – Riquelme, Saul, Koke, Da Paul, Molina – Morata, Depay (3-5-2)
Real Betis: Rui Silva – Miranda, Riad, Pezzella, Sabaly – Roca, Cardoso – Avila, Rodri, Fornals – Willian Jose (4-2-3-1)
18:30 – Mallorca vs Girona
Mallorca | Girona | |
Win Probability | 30% | 42% |
Mallorca have a Copa del Rey Final to look forward to after a heroic effort in San Sebastian on Tuesday. They’ve had sufficient recovery time that they should be good to go again here but Javier Aguirre may still make some changes with Vedat Muriqi and Sergi Darder potential starters having only featured off the bench in midweek.
Girona are in as good a shape selection wise as they have been at any point in 2024 with David Lopez available again and starting the 3-0 win over Rayo last time out while Daley Blind has also recovered from his injury and could start here.
Possible Lineups
Mallorca: Rajkovic – Raillo, Nastasic, Valjent – Costa, Darder, Samu, Antonio, Giovanni – Dani Rodriguez – Muriqi (3-5-1-1)
Girona: Gazzaniga – Miguel, Blind, Eric Garcia, Couto – Aleix Garcia, David Lopez, Herrera – Savio, Dovbyk, Tsygankov (4-3-3)
21:00 – Athletic Club vs Barcelona
Athletic Club | Barcelona
Win Probability | 33% | 40% |
Athletic have the second big game at San Mames in four days after cruising past Atleti in the Semi-Finals of the cup. They have two big absentees here though with Nico Williams and Dani Vivian suspended. Alex Berenguer and Yeray should both start as a result.
Barcelona are doing better on the injury front now with morale boosting goals for Joao Felix and Raphinha last weekend giving Xavi a few difficult selection decisions here. He could opt to start at least one of those two again and potentially give 16 year old Lamine Yamal a longer rest after he sat out the 4-0 win over Getafe. The Barca boss must also choose between former Athletic man Iñigo Martínez and promising teenager Pau Cubarsi in defence.
Possible Lineups
Athletic Club: Simon – Lekue, Yeray, Paredes, De Marcos – Vesga, Galarreta – Berenguer, Sancet, Iñaki Williams – Guruzeta (4-2-3-1)
Barcelona: Ter Stegen – Cancelo, Martinez, Araujo, Kounde – Gundogan, Christensen, De Jong – Pedri, Lewandowski, Raphinha (4-3-3)
Monday 4th March 2024
21:00 – Osasuna vs Alaves
Osasuna | Alaves | |
Win Probability | 41% | 28% |
Osasuna have problems up top here with Ante Budimir, Jose Arnaiz and Raul Garcia all doubtful which may lead to Kike Barja getting a start in attack if none of those players recover. Ruben Peña is definitely out.
Alaves have only lost one of their eight league games in 2024 and with no notable injuries except for long-term absentee Aleksandar Sedlar, major changes are unlikely here.
Possible Lineups
Osasuna: Herrera – Mojica, Herrando, David Garcia, Areso – Torro, Moncayola – Moi Gomez, Aimar Oroz, Ruben Garcia – Barja (4-2-3-1)
Alaves: Sivera – Javi Lopez, Abqar, Marin, Gorosabel – Blanco, Guevara – Rioja, Guridi, Sola – Omorodion (4-2-3-1)
