While Robert Lewandowski is currently running away with the Pichichi race on 15 goals, a number of other players in the Spanish top flight are taking more shots per game on average than the Barcelona forward. The LaLiga shooting stats offer some insight into which players are being clinical with their attempts and which ones are being more wasteful.
Whether you’re plotting changes to your fantasy football lineups, or looking for the best prizepicks today, shot data from LaLiga so far this season highlights which forwards are most likely to fire attempts away and which players are hitting the target on a regular basis.
Which LaLiga players have the most shots?
Player | Shots/90 minutes | Total shots in LaLiga 24/25 (excluding penalties) |
Kylian Mbappe | 4.79 | 59 |
Lamine Yamal | 3.79 | 43 |
Alexander Sorloth | 3.78 | 29 |
Nicolas Pepe | 3.50 | 22 |
Ayoze Perez | 3.48 | 20 |
Kylian Mbappe is the player to have taken the most shots so far this season in LaLiga. With 59 attempts (excluding penalties), he’s well clear of his nearest rival which is Robert Lewandowski on 48. However, Mbappe’s return of just eight goals is certainly disappointing by comparison to the Polish international’s much superior strike rate.
Lamine Yamal ranks second of all the players to have clocked up at least 500 minutes in LaLiga 2024/25, with an average of 3.79 shots per 90. The Barca winger has shown a willingness to shoot from range and he has scored five times.
Three players who have been afforded less regular game-time complete the top five. Alexander Sorloth was one of Atleti’s marquee summer signings and he took the sixth most shots of any player in LaLiga 2023/24 with 78 for Villarreal. He scored with 23 of those and while he has been less prolific for his new club, he is still getting plenty of attempts away.
The Sorloth cash was largely used to fund new purchases during a busy summer at the Ceramica, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Ayoze Perez arriving as fresh attacking options. Both players rank in the top five with an average of 3.50 and 3.48 shots per game respectively.
Which LaLiga players have the most shots on target?
Player | Shots on target/90 minutes | Total shots on target in LaLiga 24/25 (excluding penalties) |
Kylian Mbappe | 2.11 | 26 |
Robert Lewandowski | 1.80 | 25 |
Vitor Roque | 1.67 | 14 |
Nicolas Pepe | 1.59 | 10 |
Alexander Sorloth | 1.57 | 12 |
Mbappe still ranks first of the players to have clocked up at least 500 minutes in LaLiga when it comes to shots on target per 90 minutes. His total tally of 26 is also the highest, but it’s only one clear of Lewandowski.
Those are two giants of the modern game, and while Lewandowski has certainly also had periods when he’s received criticism since moving to Barcelona in 2022, he’s very much flavour of the month right now and seems to be loving life back under the guidance of his old Bayern boss Hansi Flick.
Vitor Roque ranks third with an average of 1.67 shots on target per 90 minutes. The 19-year-old was back-up to Lewandowski at Barcelona last season, but he has enjoyed more regular game-time since moving on loan to Real Betis. His total of 14 shots on target in LaLiga 2024/25 (excluding penalties), is the joint sixth highest behind Mbappe, Lewandowski, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Dodi Lukebakio.
Those players have clocked up significantly more minutes though and it’s again Pepe and Sorloth who round off the top five when it comes to LaLiga shots on target per game stats.
Which players have the best conversion rate?
Player | Goals/Shot | Goals (minimum of 3) | Shot on target ratio |
Pablo Torre | 100% | 3 | 100% |
Alex Muñoz | 43% | 3 | 71% |
Ayoze Perez | 35% | 7 | 35% |
Oihan Sancet | 33% | 7 | 44% |
Dani Rodriguez | 30% | 3 | 50% |
Las Palmas left-back Alex Muñoz is the unlikely player who has the best strike rate in LaLiga of those to have played 500+ minutes this term with a 43% shot conversion rate. With three goals in 12 appearances so far, he has already equalled his career best league tally.
While Muñoz’s figures are likely to return to something much more modest with time, the shot conversion rates of both Ayoze Perez and Oihan Sancet are seriously impressive, with both players netting seven goals from 20 or fewer shots in LaLiga so far this term.
Ayoze has even had a couple of injuries to deal with limiting him to just five starts in the league, but he’s scoring at a blistering rate of a goal every 74 minutes for Villarreal. Even Lewandowski cannot match that.
It’s a similar story for Dani Olmo, a summer signing from RB Leipzig, who has been limited to only four starts for Barcelona so far, but he’s netted five times in 404 minutes of action in LaLiga, scoring with 28% of his shots.
Mallorca’s Dani Rodriguez also boasts a very healthy shot conversion rate of 30%. Nobody can quite compete with Barca youngster Pablo Torre for efficiency though, with the 21-year-old having only three shots so far this season, but scoring with all of them.
