Karim Benzema could make a sensational return to France’s World Cup squad after ‘returning to first-team training at Real Madrid later this week’… with FIFA rules permitting Didier Deschamps CAN call the striker back into his team despite ruling him out!
Karim Benzema has been pictured arriving at the La Reunion Roland-Garros airport ahead of his alleged holiday on the unique island in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
The Real Madrid striker – who was ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining an injury during France’s first full training session in Qatar – was pictured on touching down on Tuesday morning.
There were reports that Benzema could make a sensational return to the France squad during the knockout stages of the competition but the 34-year-old is now said to be a ‘long way off’ being 100 per cent fit.

RMC Sport reported that Benzema would return to full-time training at Real Madrid later this week and that he could link up with the France squad for the knockout stages of the competition.
However, the latest information from L’Equipe has suggested that Benzema is a ‘long way off’ being 100 per cent fit and will refrain from joining the squad until he is.
However, should that moment come, Deschamps will have the right to call Benzema back into the France squad as he is still on the list of players registered for the tournament.
Deschamps named Benzema in the 26-man squad for the competition in Qatar. He travelled out with the team and took part in their first full-training session.
However, Benzema’s session in the middle-east brought to an early conclusion after he suffered a thigh injury.

France confirmed that Benzema would be unable to play in the World Cup – claiming he suffered a serious injury that would rule him out for at least three weeks.
Benzema travelled back to Real Madrid to begin the rehab process and is said to be progressing well.
