Though he didn’t play in Qatar, he did have a big role in Argentina’s journey there. The Villarreal playmaker played the most minutes out of all of Argentina’s absent stars from the World Cup.
The Argentine midfielder was forced off after just 25 minutes, as Villarreal suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Athletic Bilbao in October.
Enzo Fernández, on the other hand, was used the most in the final phase (563 minutes in seven games) without having played in the qualifiers.

Lo Celso is in his second season on-loan at Villarreal after struggling to make an impact at Tottenham.
He initially joined the club in January this year, before his loan was extended for this season.
Since making his international debut in 2017 in a friendly against Russia, he has gone on to make 41 caps for his country in which he has scored two goals.
He was also part of the squad that won the Copa America, starting in the 1-0 victory over Brazil in the final.
Lo Celso is currently on loan with Spanish outfit Villarreal after failing to settle at Tottenham
