Harry Kane would reportedly be open to running down his Tottenham contract with Daniel Levy reluctant to sell to Manchester United.
The England captain’s current deal expires at the end of next season and a summer transfer could be on the cards with an extension looking unlikely.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in signing Kane this summer. And who can blame them?
Kane has consistently been one of the best strikers in the world every season since breaking onto the scene in 2014.
He has been the club’s top scorer across all competitions in every campaign since 2014-15, notably scoring 35 in 16-17 and 41 the following year.
Unfortunately for Kane and Spurs, there are no trophies to show for his incredible performances over the years.
With the north Londoners in a state of disarray at this moment in time, it is no surprise that the 29-year-old is considering his future.
Kane should be pursuing a move elsewhere and currently holds all of the cards considering he can walk for nothing next summer.
And The Telegraph say that is a possibility.
The English international is apparently ‘open to seeing out his Tottenham deal’ with a lot of interest expected to come in the summer transfer window.
The prospect of him leaving for nothing would ‘pile pressure’ on Levy as the chairman will have to decide whether or not to cash in this summer.
It is reiterated that there are ‘increasing doubts’ Kane will sign a new deal.
Levy is notoriously one of the most difficult men in the Premier League to deal with and Manchester United have already began ‘due diligence’ over a summer move as they look to avoid the saga being dragged out to deadline day.
Instead, the Red Devils will try to sign Kane early on in the window or decide to move their attention elsewhere should a move be deemed impossible.
A new striker is the club’s top priority and they are hopeful of having one in for their pre-season tour of the United States.
It is noted that Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain have been ‘monitoring’ Kane for a while, but know the player has his mind set on becoming the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Levy is absolutely in a sticky situation, which he has himself to blame for, really.
Kane is being held back by Spurs and some of the decisions made by Levy have not helped the player in his bid for silverware.
The idea of selling to a direct Premier League rival is unthinkable for the Spurs chairman. Kane joining United would significantly weaken the north Londoners, while making Erik ten Hag’s side significantly stronger.
Chelsea have now emerged as a shock destination for Kane; mainly because ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to become the Blues’ next permanent manager.
Pochettino and Kane enjoyed a wonderful time together at White Hart Lane and The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and you would expect the Argentine to be very interested in reuniting with his former player.
Chelsea seriously lack a natural striker, which has greatly hindered them this season with a bottom-half finish in the Premier League on the horizon.
Spurs and Chelsea very rarely do business together and you would expect Levy to ask for over £100m should Todd Boehly come calling.
