Georgia Stanway scored England‘s first goal at this year’s Women’s World Cup after her penalty gave Sarina Wiegman’s side the lead in Brisbane.
The Bayern Munich midfielder netted a brilliant spot-kick at the second attempt after she was forced to retake the penalty.
Stanway saw her first effort saved Kerly Theus, however, the Haiti goalkeeper was off her line when making the saved.
The incident came midway through the first half after a corner was floated to Lucy Bronze at the back post.
Replays showed that the ball flicked the raise hand of Haiti midfielder Dayana Pierre-Louis.
The penalty was later award by VAR, with Stanway tasked with scoring England’s first goal of the tournament.
