Grant Wahl’s widow Celine Gounder reveals she received vile abuse and DEATH THREATS in the wake of her husband’s shock collapse in Qatar – as Covid vaccine skeptics spread misinformation on social media
Soccer reporter Gran Wahl’s widow revealed she received rape and death threats following his death as she spoke out against the anti-vax misinformation surrounding his tragic passing.
Wahl died suddenly at age 49 from an ‘aortic aneurysm that ruptured’ during the World Cup game between Argentina and the Netherlands on December 9.
His widow Celine Gounder has revealed she received vile abuse from Covid-19 vaccine skeptics as she grieved her husband’s death.

Gounder, a physician and epidemiologist, revealed in a piece for the New York Times that she had received rape and death threats following Wahl’s passing.
She added that she had even been sent an email that read: ‘Now you understand that you killed your poor husband. Karma is a b****.’
However, she refused to respond to those spreading misinformation about vaccines on social media, despite the vile harassments she was receiving, until Damar Hamlin’s collapse earlier this week.
The Buffalo Bills safety suffered cardiac arrest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday and had to be resuscitated on the field.

Gounder claimed the same misinformation surrounding Hamlin’s collapse ‘broke the dam’ and she felt compelled to finally speak out.
She accused ‘disinformation profiteers’ of using the tragic death of Wahl and Hamlin’s cardiac arrest for their own ‘personal gain.’
She also insisted they ‘re-traumatize’ families, ‘compromising our ability to interpret information and distinguish truth from lies and putting all of us at risk.’
Gounder, who said she was familiar with the anti-vax ‘playbook’ from her time serving on the Biden-Harris transition Covid Advisory Board, insisted ‘there is no increased risk of death from non-Covid causes after Covid vaccination.’

Gounder, an epidemiologist, said no expert supported the claim Wahl died from the vaccine
She reiterated that no qualified medical or public health experts have supported the claim that her husband died from receiving the Covid vaccine.
She also revealed that she wanted Wahl’s autopsy results to be ‘unimpeachable’ in order to protect his legacy and shared them publicly as she knew ‘pairing facts with empathy is the best way to disempower trolls.’
She added that she will continue to honor and protect Wahl’s legacy by speaking out but is also channeling her grief into ‘protecting the public’s health against those who would profit from the suffering of others.’
Immediately following the news of Wahl’s death, his brother, Eric, suggested there had been foul play involved with his brother’s death after he had earlier been refused entry to a stadium because he was wearing a rainbow symbol on his t-shirt.

But he later withdrew that claim after learning his brother had an undetected heart condition.
Gounder attributed her brother-in-law’s misstatements to grief, acknowledging that ‘even those of us who love Grant’ grasped onto their own narratives to explain the tragic and shocking events.
Wahl wrote about soccer for Sports Illustrated for more than two decades and then started his own website.
He was a major voice informing an American public of soccer during a time of increased interest after the United States hosted the 1994 World Cup.
He also brought a critical eye to the international organizing bodies of the sport.
