Getafe vs Sevilla Preview
Sevilla head to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez for one of the big games this weekend in LaLiga with plenty riding on this. Both sides are in the relegation scrap and hungry for three points to take into the international break.
Getafe haven’t had a great season but there have been some positives in recent weeks. They’ve only lost 1 of their last 6 in LaLiga which suggests they are in with a good chance of extending this current decent run of form and ultimately beating the drop. It did take them until the 106th minute to equalise at Cadiz last time out though with Enes Unal converting two penalties in a hugely controversial and bad-tempered game.
The presence of the Turkish international, who has netted 12 goals in LaLiga this term to add to the 16 he scored last season, does give Getafe a slight edge on most of their rivals at the bottom. Having a proven goalscorer is key for any team at any level, but Getafe could still do with some other contributions with their midfield contributing precious little this season in terms of goals.
At his best, Youssef En-Nesyri can have a similar kind of impact for Sevilla, however the Moroccan hasn’t been anywhere near as consistent. The Andalusians do at least have a few other sources of goals with Erik Lamela and Lucas Ocampos both on target in the win over Almeria last weekend. That was an important three points with Sevilla just sinking back towards the bottom three again prior to that match but they’d dearly love to back it up with another win here.
That won’t be easy, not least because Sevilla were involved in a tough European game, all the way over in Istanbul on Thursday night. Despite losing 1-0 on the night, Sevilla progressed into the Europa League quarter-finals, although in truth having two extra games against Manchester United after the international break may not help in their bid to avoid the doomsday scenario of an unlikely relegation.

Score Prediction: Getafe 2-1 Sevilla
Sevilla named a strong eleven again in Europe and they really had to battle to get past Fenerbahce. They don’t have many options for rotation in some areas currently due to injuries and there could be a bit of fatigue here. That’s far from ideal against Getafe who are competing well in most games now and they may just have the edge here.
