Fans have taken to social media to ridicule Croatia for celebrating a third-place finish at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Zlatko Dalic’s side secured third spot after beating Morocco 2-1 in Saturday’s playoff match at Khalifa International Stadium.
Celebrations followed after the win, with the Croatia players and staff sprinting onto the pitch in delight before being presented with bronze medals.

The team have come under huge scrutiny on social media for celebrating, having been distraught after coming second in the 2018 Russia World Cup.
One fan tweeted: ‘Most pointless game in world football and Croatia celebrating like they have won the f*****g thing!
A second fan wrote: ‘One thing I find really funny about finishing 3rd place in the World Cup? It’s the finishers are actually happier than those who finished in 2nd place
Fans have ridiculed the team on social media for their wild celebrations on Saturday evening
‘In 2018 we saw the Croatia players look so gloomy finishing 2nd but look at them happy and celebrating 3rd’.
‘Croatia celebrating like they won the bloody tournament. Embarassing,’ a third fan said while another said, ‘I don’t understand why Croatia are celebrating as they’ve finished 3rd’.
A fifth fan mirrored similar views, posting: ‘4 years ago Croatia were crying as they finished runners up, today they are happy and celebrating as they finished 3rd place. Make it sense’.
Croatia took the lead after just seven minutes thanks to defender Josko Gvardiol’s close-range header nine minutes in.
But Morocco equalised two minutes later as Achraf Dari found the back of the net with a header of his own before Mislav Orsic’s superb strike after 42 minutes put Croatia ahead, a goal which turned out to be the winner.
This year’s World Cup will draw to a close when Argentina and reigning champions France go head-to-head in Sunday’s final at Lusail Stadium.
