Cadiz vs Girona Preview
Friday night football takes us to Cadiz this week with Girona the visitors at the Nuevo Mirandilla. Girona are 7 places above their opponents in 11th but such is the congested nature of the bottom half of LaLiga, a home win here would see Cadiz cut the deficit to just 2 points whilst also lifting themselves out of the relegation zone.
Cadiz would have approached this season expecting another relegation battle so it’s no surprise to see them in the bottom three. However there is plenty of reason to believe as far as Sergio and his team are concerned. They’ve battled well in recent months and got some good results whilst also doing some decent business in January.
Ideally, Sergio may have wanted to ease new arrivals like Roger Marti and Gonzalo Escalante into the fold but extensive injury problems which will most likely see seven players ruled out again here makes that tougher. Both Roger and Escalante started in Bilbao last week with the latter scoring a goal but it did little to prevent a 4-1 defeat as Oihan Sancet scored a hat-trick for Athletic.
Girona meanwhile come into this game on the back of a victory. They saw off crisis club Valencia with a 1-0 win at Montilivi last time out with Borja Garcia’s goal sealing a deserved win. They haven’t been as convincing on their travels this season though with a victory at rock bottom Elche their solitary road success. Indeed only Almeria and Elche have picked up fewer away points in LaLiga this term.
Like their opponents, Girona also have plenty of selection issues here with Christian Stuani suspended and six players carrying injuries. They should still be able to field a strong eleven though and they’ve numerous players who are really shining this season with Aleix Garcia perhaps their standout performer and he has certainly been their most creative player with 4 assists to his name.

Score Prediction: Cadiz 1-1 Girona
This is a tough game to call with no clear favourite. Cadiz have only won twice at home all season and Girona do feel like the stronger side overall. However they’ve often struggled to turn decent performances into positive results away from home and they may just be content to leave with a point here.
